Volunteer

Our volunteers play a vital role in Age Concern. At present we have over 700 volunteers.

We value highly all work done by our volunteers and always need more! If you have the time - however little - there are many ways in which you can help. You will use your skills, meet new people, have fun and find it very, very rewarding. You can be sure that the time you give is making a positive difference to older people in your community, and will be much appreciated by those whom you are helping.

What to do:

Please contact us on 01257 479010 or email: bward@ageconcernlancs.org.uk for an informal chat. Following a visit to one of our projects you will be required to fill in an application form and provide the names of 2 referees and also a passport size photgraph for an identification card.

Support and training, if required, will be given and you will become part of a team. From time to time, we organise information days and meetings. They provide the opportunity for exchange of ideas and views about the way the servies you are involved in are run. Your comments and views will be taken seriously and given careful consideration.

Have a look at some of the ways in which you could help us.
Befriending
- visiting older people in their own home.
Day Centres - helping to serve meals, wash-up, chat with clients or play board games etc.
Drivers - for collecting those who do not have access to transport and bringing them to various day clubs and social outings.
Hospital Aftercare - giving support to older people recently discharged from hospital.
Shops - serving in shops and sorting donated goods to serve customers.
Office - providing general admin support in our busy offices throughout the county.
Fundraising - holding a coffee morning or sponsored event.
Trustee - becoming a Trustee is a serious commitment, but an interesting one.

If you decide to volunteer to help Age Concern Lancashire the chances are that you'll get more out of it than you ever imagined! We also pay out of pocket expenses.

If you can spare an hour or two to help or would like more information, either about the work of Age Concern Lancashire in general or about volunteering in particular, please call our main office on 01257 233200 during office hours or complete the online form below.
